Inside each of us, there is something that ignites passion in our hearts and creates purpose in our soul. It’s no easy task, admitting that what we covet is at odds with our current life. It seems unattainable and foreign. Utterly terrifying. That’s when you’ll know you’re onto something, for if dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.
‘I have lots of things to prove to myself. One is that I can live my life fearlessly.’ – Oprah Winfrey.
Don’t hide in fear, grasp that force and channel it. Hold the big picture, your dream, clearly in your mind, without doubt and enjoy the sensations as you imagine yourself having already achieved your dreams.
‘Never be ashamed! There’s some who will hold it against you, but they are not worth bothering with.’ – J. K. Rowling.
Forget the people who mock your dreams; they won’t help you succeed. You need to surround yourself with motivators, encouragers and like-minded individuals to prosper.
‘You will never find time for anything. You must make it.’ – Charles Buxton. M
Don’t fool yourself with the belief that you’ll have time for your dreams in the future-there’s never a better time than now. Magical thinking won’t procure your aspirations, you need to take action. To work with commitment, towards your goals. Building knowledge, connections or funds. The road will be long and at times difficult. But true failure only comes when you’ve quit.
‘Remember to celebrate milestones as you prepare for the road ahead.’ – Nelson Mandela.
Equal importance should be given to each and every milestone. No matter how small. Don’t neglect or underestimate them. For each miniature victory is a step towards achieving your dreams.
Now go chase them!!!
What dream are you working towards? Tell me about you recent milestone. We have a great community of encouragers and believers… let’s celebrate our journey together.
Thank you for reading my post.

My dream is for Steven Spielberg or Joss Whedon to buy the film rights to my novel and make it into a movie. Lots of action with some wicked plot twists.

Great dream Ron and one I think all writers share. 😊

“You must make time” this is so important. Without that drive to reach those dreams, to make the effort to do what needs doing, we may never get them. Great post

My dream since I was younger is to be able to write a book. I even have my outline put together, as I know exactly what the book is going to be about, but I still have yet to write my book. It scares me because I don’t want to write it and have people tell me it is horrible. It will be a book loosely based on a true story about my journey being diagnosed with MS. There is more involved, but that is part of it. Maybe someday my dream will work out for me!
This was a fantastic post and I thank you for sharing!!!

I totally understand what you mean. I wanted to write a memoir about my traumatic childhood but it’s too difficult. Instead I write fantasy-romance using some of my experiences as inspiration. Start by writing short pieces and go from their. Best of luck.

Isn’t amazing how much a traumatic childhood can impact your life? Speaking from experience, my childhood was pretty intense and horrible. I know I could never write about all that because it is too hard and painful to remember. When and if I do get to write a book, it will be about being diagnosed with MS and what I went through. Thank you for sharing this!

I agree, it shapes everything in adulthood. I think your journey with MS would make a moving story. 💙

My dream unfolds in stages. I am within reach of completing my career, three years from this coming May, in successful style. In the meantime, my travels will take me back across to the East Coast (this summer), up to British Columbia and southeast Alaska (summer, 2019) and across Canada, from the Rockies to Newfoundland (summer, 2020). I also plan to write at least one book during this time period.

Lorraine, thank you for sharing this inspirational post! 🙂 “There’s never a better time than now.” 💯💯 You’re absolutely right! I also like how Jayson DeMers puts it. He says: “Our dreams are often at odds with our realities, demanding freedoms and resources we may not have. But this doesn’t make them impossible to achieve.”

Fear has always been my biggest enemy so I am working to overcome that.
These are fabulous quotes and I wrote them down to re-read them. Thank you so much for posting them.

Fear is crippling but I love the quote ‘do one thing each day that scares you.’ Even if that means braving the supermarket on a rough day. Lol

My dream is to be published. I’m currently querying agents. My recent milestone it celebrate every little success and not be my own negative voice telling me to quit & dream too big.

I’m queuing too, while working on a new WIP. I’m in need of shrinking my own doubt this week. It’s the biggest dream killer. 😩

Yeah, I think that’s the hardest part of being a writer – we are so critical of our own work. You completed your novel and that’s a massive achievement that many never accomplish 💜

Sometimes I look at my dreams and find them too many and too big but I want to fulfil them all. It’s fun chasing them because I learn a lot even when I fall
