We writers are mercurial creatures, each with our own unique quirks, aspirations and preferences that drive us to create stories. Have you ever wondered if all writers desire the same things? I’ve created a fun, whimsical infographic that contains seven, unrealistic desires of a writer. Enjoy!

Do you agree with any of these wishes? Or perhaps you have something different to add to the wish list.
Why not share them with me, you know I love hearing from you.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time, Much Love.
Excellent list. I think the ideal view/residence would be a comfortable house surrounded by trees overlooking a lake or river.

That sounds perfect! I know we both love nature.

🙂 Noise-cancelling headphones are a must-have item for any writer.
Also, an additional laptop is great to have in case the one that you are currently using stops working.

Yes, a second laptop really helps when it comes to editing with beta reader comments. 😊

I tried writing in total silence. It was a total disaster plus it felt kind of creepy. I find it very comfortable to have instrumental music playing softly in the background. Hooked On Classics is great to hear as is the soundtrack from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Whatever you choose you don’t want the volume up loud enough so that it distracts you. The volume should be loud enough that you’re barely aware that it’s playing. Music with lyrics isn’t very good because you may start actively listening to the words and become distracted by the lyrics.

I can work in silence and with music, but my children bickering is very disruptive. 😂

Great list! There is one thing I would like to add and that is a faithful companion. I know writers who have either a dog asleep at their feet or a cat snoozing in a chair nearby – sometimes both – which adds calmness to the room.

You’re right! I totally forgot about my snuggly beagle and my attention seeking cat.
Thanks for reminding me. 😊

Hi. This is a great list! I’m particularly drawn to the first item – unlimited books with unlimited bookshelves. Ahhhhh. And maybe an unlimited bookstore credit card to purchase those unlimited books.

These are 100% spot on. I’m wishing for all of these things at the moment, especially a room with a view! ❤ In my flat the windows are quite high up and don't look out onto much. We're saving to buy a place, and my only insistent preference is, "it has to have big windows!" ❤
Great list, Rainy! xx

What a list (and a nice infographic, too)! More time to write would be peachy. Or at least more time to sleep–by the end of a busy day, I’m falling asleep at my WIP.

The struggle is real, finding time to write can be tough.

I love this graphic so much! Sticky notes and highlighters are ALWAYS on my wishlist. And if I could write next to the beach, that would be pretty nice too. I feel like that’s not asking much?? 😉

That’s not asking too much at all. 😂😘
